Guilt of the Moment

I stand in a corner

Head bowed, staring at the wall

I can hear strangers laugh

Their joy makes me sick

Don’t they know?

Of my suffering, my struggles

The tears I have not shed

Don’t they care?

Slowly I raise my head

Accidently, I meet the kind eyes

Across the room I see a warm smile

Unknowingly, I return the gesture

I can feel my lips

Curving into a smile

I loathe myself right now

Guilt of the moment burdens me
